「數碼轉型」兩大行業 :AI(人工智能)及科技發展

一般人常以為術語 AI「人工智能」等同於機器人,主要是由於一些受歡迎的電影、電視連續劇或科幻小說所產生的概念。

其實,人工智能已經融入我們的生活及工作當中,機器人的功能已遠遠超過了以學習、推理和感知能力的目標。人工智能除主要功能外,智慧代理還可做出決策(或通過行動),以此來與環境互動。強化學習範式有效掌握人工智能代理與環境之間的互動,從而實現更多的人工智能任務。

人工智能是一個更接近工程學領域的主題,其目標是製造人工效果,以完成目前人們可以更好地完成的工作。最理想的情況是,人類的智慧只為我們在開發人工智能模型和演算法提供啟發作用;實際上人工智能模型和演算法更依賴於數學和計算原理與技術,就像鳥類與飛機之間的模擬狀態。人工智能也可以應用於與人類思維有關的任何機器,例如學習和解決問題。

人工智能大致可分為兩類,即方法論和應用程式,方法論是指機器學習(與模式識別關係密切)、知識表達、推理等;而計算機視覺、語音識別、自然語言處理、機器人等則屬於應用程式。深度學習是一種使用深度分層模型架構(通常以人工神經網絡的形式)進行機器學習的方法。

模式識別被廣泛應用於各個領域,包括:影像(預)處理(神經網絡)、計算機視覺、面部識別、語音識別或理解(神經網絡)、指紋識別、手寫分析和醫學診斷等,均適用於上述某些範疇。神經網絡是一個計算模型,可共用大腦的某些屬性。

醫療保健和運輸業的長遠發展
人工智能已被不同行業採用,有著長遠的影響。醫療保健行業是典型示例之一,應用人工智能於不同患者的治療方法,以及醫院的外科手術個案中。此外,透過語音識別技術,將用戶的語音轉化為電子病歷,便可為醫生減低工作時間。

還有其他的例子,例如香港機場的無人駕駛穿梭巴士便是採用了人工智能技術。另外,虛擬的觸覺印象已經逐步開發,它是模擬人體周邊神經對物體的觸覺,這意味著在不久的將來,人類藉助其他的電子產品(計算機或其他指定的電子產品如穿上特製的手套)作為支援,便可從虛擬的空間中「感覺」衣服及化妝品等的質地。這對於醫療保健的應用也有很大的幫助,特別是對於採用義肢的人而言。

人工智能應用於銀行業及金融業
人工智能已被銀行和金融業應用於檢測記錄,銀行通過應用程式來瞭解借記卡及帳戶的運作程式,來揭露客戶的欺騙行為。簡化應用的操作流程,廣泛用於供應和需求,以及證券的定價,更易於估算。此外,也可利用機器學習技術來進行信用評估和批核。

銀行業廣泛應用人工智能為客戶提供服務,若客戶於網上銀行遇到問題時,便可向網上機器人提問,以尋求協助。

客戶甚至可以透過人工智能對話,更快地獲得答案,人工智能的對話融合了人類的語音,聽起來更加真實。這將增加客戶的使用率,從而提升業務的信任度和可靠性。 此項更改將影響公司重新部署某些工作的範疇,工作通過自動化的流程,讓公司重整架構,以提高營運的效率。

人力資源管理應用人工智能,將會帶來甚麼影響?

人工智能已成為人們日常生活的一部分,人力資源經理應採用人工智能的流程,並將日常工作與複雜的工作劃分。

Oracle 和 Future Workplace 對人力資源的人工智能應用程式進行了調查。該調查發現,人力資源專業人士認為,人工智能可以為他們掌握新技能的機會,並可騰出時間,令他們擴大其當前的職務,讓他們為公司提供更多䇿略。人工智能以不同的方式應用於HR 管理,簡化處理過程,從而提高工作效率。以下是一些常見的示例:

1)招聘和入職
於2019年,「德勤」對全球人力資源趨勢進行了調查,結果發現只有6%的受訪者認為,他們擁有一流的招聘技術流程,而81%的受訪者則認為其公司的招聘流程屬於標準或低於標準。有鑑於此,專業人士有很大的機會通過應用人工智能來改善招聘流程,例如:這項先進技術可以通過機器人的自動化流程來處理文檔歸檔和質量控制(DORIS),並可透過 ISAAC安排招聘人員的面試。這兩項技術均可節省人力資源專業人員的寶貴時間。人工智能還可以分析求職者,並根據其資料進行工作配對。

在新冠肺炎疫情期間,眾多公司在招聘過程中使用網上會議軟件,並以「網絡面試」形式與求職者進行「面試」。在這種情況下,人工智能可以用來分析候選人的面試表現,從而讓人力資源專業人員更有效地甄別候選人。

在入職流程中,新員工可以利用人工智能聊天機器人隨時獲得人力資源的支援,而且不受環境的限制。這不僅有利於新員工,亦減輕了人力資源專業人員的管理負擔。

2)員工發展與培訓
將人工智能的工具整合到線上學習平臺,以人工智能擔當導師的角色,觀察員工的工作表現,並為員工推薦個人化的學習方式。

3)挽留員工
Veriato 軟件公司已開發了人工智能平臺,分析員工的整體語氣,以預測他們何時考慮離職。當員工的「情感得分」開始超出公司的基準時,管理人員可以介入以挽留該員工。若正確使用這些技巧,將有助僱主防止流失員工。

4)行政任務自動化
人力資源將人工智能納入各項管理流程中,例如:將日常行政工作與複雜工作重新部署,以自動化處理簡單又重複的工作,讓人力資源專業人員騰出時間和精力為公司制定䇿略。

機器人主導的生活方式
於2018年,LINE 的子公司GATEBOX INC 宣佈,「虛擬管家」已經正式發售,它不僅是一個智慧的揚聲器,而且是一個受歡迎的人物角色,它通過應用全息投影技術,讓用戶享受生活,全息投影技術為機器人提供特定的角色形象。

透過相機和身體傳感器來識別用戶的臉部和動作,當「虛擬管家」偵測到用戶返到家中時,它會跟用戶打招呼,還向用戶報告新聞及天氣訊息;並可遠程式控制制照明、電視和空調等家用電器。

機器人主導的招聘方式
香港飲食業的僱主面對勞動力短缺的問題,年輕人不願意投身這個行業。通過 「Robotou蘿蔔頭」,「招聘」機器人在餐館工作,為餐館帶來更多顧客的關注和新體驗。

融合和協調與人工智能技術開創生活新模式

The use of AI and technology

AI introduction
Humans often equate the term “Artificial Intelligence (AI)” with robots. This is mostly due to the drive of some popular movies, TV series or science fiction.

However, AI is integrated into humanity and is a lot more than robots which include learning, reasoning, and perception. Other than that, a major role that an intelligent agent has to do is to make decisions (or take actions) as a way to interact with the environment. The reinforcement learning paradigm captures very well the interaction between the agent and its environment and hence many tasks in AI.

In addition, AI as a field closer to engineering aims to build artifacts that perform tasks currently done better by humans. At best human intelligence only provides inspirations for us to develop AI models and algorithms which actually rely more heavily on mathematical and computational principles and techniques. The analog is like birds vs. air-planes. AI may also be applied to any machine that is associated with a human mind such as learning and problem-solving.

In general, AI would be distinguished by two categories, namely methodology and applications. Methodology refers to machine learning (closely related to pattern recognition), knowledge representation, reasoning, etc., while computer vision, speech recognition, natural language processing, robotics, etc., belong to applications. Deep learning is one approach to machine learning using deep layered model architectures (usually in the form of artificial neural networks).

Pattern recognition is widely applied in various areas including image (pre)processing (neural network), computer vision, face recognition, speech recognition/understanding (neural network), fingerprint identification, handwriting analysis and medical diagnosis, etc. in which Neural network is applied in some of the above mentioned areas. Neural network is a computational model that shares some of the properties of brains.

Some Illustrations on AI application by Sectors
Healthcare and Transportation
AI applications in different industries have a lasting impact. One of the typical examples is the application in the healthcare industry for different treatments in patients as well as the surgical operations in hospitals. Also, electronic medical records can be generated from users’ speech via speech recognition technology, which can save much time for doctors.

Other examples are the self-driving cars such as shuttle bus application in the HK Airport. Furthermore, the virtual tactile impression has been being developed. It is to simulate the tactile sensation of human peripheral nerves on objects, which means that in the near future, humans can “feel” the external texture of clothes, cosmetics, etc. on computers or other electronic products with the aid of some items such as wearing specially-made gloves. That is also of great help in healthcare area especially for the adoption in the sense of touch for prosthetics.

Banking and Finance
AI can be leveraged in banking and finance industry in exposing the fraud behaviors from customers by detecting the banking activities recorded such as usage of debit card, deposit of accounts, etc. Applications in streamline of the operation processes are also widely used by making supply and demand and pricing of securities easier to estimate. In addition, credit evaluation and approval can make use of machine learning techniques as well.

Bank of China (Hong Kong)’s Bonnie (refer to Picture 1 Bonnie on Online Chat) is an application of AI in banking. Customers ask Bonnie questions for help when they encounter problems in online banking.

Customers can even get answers more quickly with conversational AI, which incorporates the natural language to make the conversations between human and machine sounds more realistic. As a result that, the customer engagement would be increased and hence the trust and reliability in the business. This change involves the re-deployment of some job roles and re-organization of your company for operational efficiency by automating some of the processes.

How AI make an impact to Human Resources Management – it has been part of our daily life and when it comes to segregation of routine work from sophisticated and complex tasks, HR managers should have enabled AI process in their management.

Oracle and Future Workplace has conducted a survey on AI applications in HR. It found that human resources professionals believe that AI can provide them with opportunities for mastering new skills and gaining more free time so that they can expand their current roles to be more strategic within their companies. AI can be applied in HR management in different ways in order to streamline processes and hence improve efficiency. Below are some common examples:

1)Recruitment and Onboarding
In 2019, Deloitte conducted a survey on Global Human Capital Trends which found that there are only 6% of respondents believed that they had the best-in-class recruitment processes in technology, while 81% believed their companies’ processes were standard or below. In view of that, there are huge chances for professionals to improve their processes by applying AI. For instance, this advanced technology can process the document filing and quality control (DORIS) by robotic process automations. Likewise, ISAAC can schedule interviews for recruiters. These 2 technologies both save HR professionals valuable time. AI can also analyze the applicants and do a job matching accordingly. During this Covid-19 period, most companies make use of the tele-meeting software and adopt the “tele-interview” instead of a face-to-face interview during recruitment. AI, in this situation, can be used to analyze the interview performance of the candidates. Hence, HR professionals can identify candidates more effectively.

In onboarding process, new staff can utilize AI chatbots to get HR support at any time without location limit. This is not only beneficial to the new hirers but also reduce the administrative burden from the HR professionals.

2) Staff Development and Training
AI tools can be incorporated into online learning platforms to play the role of an AI tutor which monitors the performance of staff and recommends learning activities in a personalized manner.

3) Employee Retention
A software company Veriato has developed an AI platform to analyze employee’s overall tone in order to predict when they might be thinking of leaving. When an employee’s “sentiment score” begins to out of the company’s baseline, managers can step in to try to retain them. When used properly, these technologies are able to assist employers in preventing unnecessary attrition.

4)Automation of Administrative Tasks
Leverage AI in various HR processes such as segregation of routine administrative work from sophisticated and complex tasks by automating those repeatable and low-value tasks gives HR professionals more time and energy to contribute to the strategic planning at the organizational level.

Robot navigation – Lifestyle (Living with character)
In 2018 GATEBOX INC., a subsidiary of LINE announced that their “Virtual Housekeeper” has been launched for official pre-sale. It is not only a smarter speaker but is also a favorite character who makes users live a happy life by applying the holographic projection technology which gives the robot a specific character image.

User’s face and movement are recognized via camera and body sensor. The virtual housekeeper will greet the user when it is detected that user returns home. “She” can also report news and weather information to the user and control the home appliances such as lights, TVs and air conditioners remotely.

Robot navigation – Lifestyle (Dining)
The problem faced by employers in the catering industry in Hong Kong is the shortage of labor, and young people are reluctant to enter the industry. Through Robotou, “recruiting” service robots work in restaurants, bringing more customers’ attention and fresh user experience to restaurants.
