INTRODUCTION
People are the heart of any company or organization and the key to its success. Human Resource Management (HRM) is a strategic approach to the effective and efficient management of the staff to maximize their performance – in order to achieve the company’s strategic objectives.
HR Professionals work with the company’s management to build and maintain a well-managed organization and high-performing workforce, with effective HR strategies, policies and practices. In this programme, you will learn up-to-date theories, knowledge and skills in all aspects of HRM, including staffing, compensation, benefits, training and development, employee relations, company culture, discipline, labour legislation, and more.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Secondary school graduation (Form 5)
- 2 or more years of work experience
- Competence in both Chinese and English (written and spoken)
EXEMPTION
If you have previously undertaken studies similar to a Module (1 - 6), you may apply for exemption for that Module, up to 2 Modules of the Programme. Module 7 is mandatory and non-exemptible. Applications for exemption must be received by HKMA before the start of the Programme. Application Forms for exemption may be downloaded from: www.hkma.org.hk/pd/pphr. M1. Human Resource Management
Aims
• To familiarize with to students the roles and responsibilities of the HR function.
• To provide students with up‑to‑date knowledge on HR policies, procedures and methods to deal with HR and industrial relations.
M2. Employee Relations
Aims
• To provide students with comprehensive understanding of labour relations through the familiarization of theories, rules and mechanisms that affect employers, employees and relevant stakeholders.
• To equip students with practical knowledge and skills to handle labour issues and resolve conflicts and problems.
• Real dispute cases will be used as learning materials.
M3. Employment Ordinance
Aims
• To delves into the Employment Ordinance of Hong Kong, offering participants a thorough understanding of the Hong Kong employment laws.
• By exploring real-world examples and case studies, the module aims to enhance cooperation, minimize disputes, and maintain harmonious industrial relationships within organizations.
M4. Management and Organizational Behaviour
Aims
• To familiarize students with key management skills in managing people.
• To provide students with key knowledge on individual and group behaviour in an organization
M5. Human Resource Management in Mainland China
Aims
• To familiarize students with the current practices of human resource management in the Mainland.
• To enable students to apply the knowledge and skills learnt to the context of the Mainland.
M6. Human Resource Strategies
Aims
• To familiarize students with the contemporary trends of human resources management (HRM) both locally and globally.
• To enable students to apply practical approaches in handling the increasing challenges of the HR profession.
M7. Human Resource Management Report
Aims
• The Management Report allows students to demonstrate their ability to apply their new learning, i.e. the knowledge and skills learned in Modules 1 - 6. Students may write about a real HR issue or problem at their workplace, or a new or creative HR idea.
