Empowering Youth to Take the Wheel: Learning, Leadership and Purpose in the Age of AI

Taylor Swift, the global musical icon, in her two-minute acceptance speech having been presented with “Artist of The Year” award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards 2026, she emphasised the importance of honing one’s craft, practising over time and internalising ideas in the world of constant and immediate feedback. There's essentially craft and art, sculpted down to the very fine detail in any profession that we pursue, be it numbers, analytics, creative writing, sports and so on. The fluid interdisciplinary connections are visible and tangible.

In our time, analysing critically and filtering through the tsunami of information and content, the credibility, the purpose, the source of which and so on which are so often blurred and biased when we come to grasp what’s been presented to us has become a much bigger challenge than it’s even been, given their availability, the catch for your attention, for your feedback and emotional reaction. What is ranked today turns obsolete tomorrow because our span of attention is short.

So, are we social media and Instagram's content feeder in the ranch of both AI-generated creations and products of the human mind, and how do we find ourselves, our own ground that manoeuvres the virtual engine that propels us forward constantly and swiftly?

Be brave enough to take the wheel in the course of yours, and let yourself be empowered by the engines, the use of AI tools and digital platforms that serve your imagination and passion towards the direction ahead of you. You're steering but not drowning; you're seeing the direction, but not submerging in the comfort of moulding. Professions could be replaced by technology, but your definition and value given above it shall not. Stay the course. Whenever you can, learn to navigate outside the comfort zone; mistakes are inevitable, and they will become some of the most invaluable moments in your career and life moving forward.

I've been serving, since August 2026, CMA Australia (Hong Kong) which presents a myriad of international learning opportunities to prepare the youth in their career development, to equip them with global perspectives and insights from across the industries and industry leaders. What is of equal importance to prepare the youth to be ready to adapt to the ever-changing professional landscapes and overcome the hurdles of the future is for them to nurture the hunger to keep learning, be inspiring; be resolute and give back to the community.

Receiving productive and constructive professional feedback is one luxury for the youth to experience early on in their career. Through practical and experiential training such as event organisation, creative multimedia and AI presentation, reseach and development and so on, both in an individual manner and in a team project, the feedback which the youth receives from the learning curve serves the purpose of setting them on the course, where they're poised to find their own craft and art, and to help them build a solid and sustainable groundwork for future development. This's where the DNA of the Committee of Youth Leadership lies.

On the trajectory to serving my devotion towards sports and sports development of Hong Kong, I'm thankful to have the companionship of CMA Australia (Hong Kong) which has helped shape me into an all-rounded personnel with leadership development, organisation of the world professional talent sports tournaments tentatively scheduled to take place in 2027. The lenses to see through the intensity of involvement with no limitations to any one particular sport have been given to me, progressing into new sports arenas and territories which in turn, have evolved into a journey which I'm looking forward to embracing together with a team that projects energy, enthusiasm and strength onto each other. Afterall, the spirit of sportmanship is to be cascaded down to our daily lives and put into practice not only during games and matches, but safeguarding level playing fields.

Last but not least, as a long-distance ultra trail runner and athlete whose participation in trail running races is active, I'd like to share one last recommendation for the youth that, if you can find your passion in a sport, never lose sight of your hobby and devote time to training. Let your health and wellbeing be infectious; and your resolve affactious.
