Highlights
The One-Day MBA Workshop Series is designed to strengthen the integration of knowledge and practice at MBA level. Knowledge is being transformed into practice through experimentation, critical self-analysis and experience sharing.
PSYCHOLOGICAL INFLUENCE IN NEGOTIATION
The art of negotiation is the careful exploration of opposing positions with the goal of achieving a positive outcome. Negotiation occurs in business, non-profit organizations, government branches, legal proceedings, among nations, and in personal situations such as marriage, divorce, parenting, and everyday life. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negotiation)
Emotions play an important part in the negotiation process, although it is only in recent years that their effect is being studied. Emotions have the potential to play either a positive or negative role in negotiation. During negotiations, the decision as to whether or not to settle rests in part on emotional factors. Negative emotions can cause intense and even irrational behavior, and can cause conflicts to escalate and negotiations to break down, but may be instrumental in attaining concessions.
OBJECTIVES
This course is composed of different learning components at executive level. The teaching and learning methods are designed to give participants an enhanced understanding on negotiation through a review on negotiation techniques and reflection on negotiation styles. It provides them with insight into their personal negotiation style, and necessary actions required at each phase of the process. The workshop also aims to lead participants to gain an advantage in negotiations through influence, the psychology of persuasion.
